Guava BBQ Glazed Chicken Wings (Printable)

Crispy chicken wings with a tangy guava BBQ glaze, perfect for entertaining.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Chicken

01 - 2.5 lbs chicken wings, split at joints, tips removed
02 - 1 tsp salt
03 - ½ tsp black pepper
04 - 1 tbsp vegetable oil

→ Guava BBQ Glaze

05 - ½ cup guava paste or guava jelly
06 - ½ cup BBQ sauce
07 - 2 tbsp honey
08 - 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
09 - 1 tbsp soy sauce
10 - 1 tsp smoked paprika
11 - ½ tsp garlic powder
12 - ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

# How To Make:

01 - Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and set a wire rack on top.
02 - Pat wings dry with paper towels. Toss in a large bowl with salt, black pepper, and vegetable oil until evenly coated.
03 - Arrange wings in a single layer on the rack. Roast for 35–40 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crisp.
04 - Combine guava paste, BBQ sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking until the guava melts and glaze is smooth (about 3–5 minutes). Remove from heat.
05 - Once wings are cooked, transfer to a large bowl. Pour half the glaze over and toss to coat.
06 - Return wings to the rack and broil for 2–3 minutes until caramelized.
07 - Toss wings with remaining glaze before serving. Serve hot, garnished with chopped cilantro or green onions if desired.

# Top Tips:

01 -
  • The guava adds this bright tropical note that cuts through the richness of the wings
  • They disappear faster than you can plate them, so maybe double the batch
02 -
  • Letting wings air dry in the fridge for an hour or two before roasting makes them noticeably crispier
  • The glaze thickens quickly as it cools, so keep it warm while the wings finish cooking
03 -
  • If you cannot find guava paste, apricot or mango preserves work surprisingly well
  • Line your baking sheet well because the sugary glaze will drip and become a nightmare to clean
